NW Hazelnut Goes 100% Solar

Northwest Hazelnut Company has become the world's first 100% solar-powered hazelnut processing facility. The 435-kilowatt system will power the company's facility in Hubbard, OR and produces enough energy to power 40 average Oregon homes. The system was installed with an LED lighting upgrade, and will offset its cost in only five years. Governor Brown attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony along with NWFPA Board member Larry George and a representative from Ferrero, the maker of Nutella and the largest buyer of hazelnuts in the world.
