John Damon

Food Northwest welcomes John Damon to the team

John Damon grew up in Oregon and attended Oregon State University where he met his wife, Kristen.  They had two boys Eric (30) and Tyler (28), both graduated from the University of Oregon (a result of poor parenting). They are successfully employed and off his payroll!

John started his career working for Kraft foods.  Over his 27 years, he worked in every division of Kraft in both plant and headquarters roles in the US and then accepted a global assignment setting up businesses in emerging market and sharing best practices around the world.  John and Kristen ultimately wanted to get back to Oregon and be around family, so when Kraft bought Nabisco, John asked to be transferred to the Portland Bakery.

John left Kraft to work for OFD Foods in 2011 as SR VP of Manufacturing and finally retiring in 2020 as one of the owners and SR VP of Operations (Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Quality).

Over his career he received the Kraft President’s Award, Redzone Lifetime Achievement Award, Food NW Key Award and his Portland Nabisco Bakery received recognition for being leaders in Lean Six Sigma. He served on the board for both ERI and Food NW.

John has a passion for engaging and empowering employees on the plant floor.  He enjoys teaching employee how to grow and succeed through investing self-development.  He has been a leader in Safety (both people and food), Preventative Maintenance, Continuous Improvement (Lean Six Sigma).

John “retired” in January to take over his family Ranch/Farm in Heppner Oregon and enjoy the outdoors in the Pacific NW!

We are happy to have John join the team as the Workforce Development Manager. You can email him at [email protected]
